Community Connect is a one-day event for individuals and families in need. The attendees receive information about local resources from over 30 vendors, and are given everyday essentials such as shampoo, diapers, and warm winter gear. They are provided services such as flu shots and haircuts on site as well as a hot meal. The event is free to all attendees through vendor fees and generous sponsorships.

Community Investment

Community Investment is a day in April where volunteers, made up of community leaders and business representatives, come together to review the grants of nonprofits that have been submitted to Sherburne County Area United Way for funding. The volunteers review the
written grants and learn more about the nonprofit in which the grant is written. The teams visit the physical locations to interview and evaluate the agency/program. The volunteers then have a review session to discuss the overall performance of the nonprofit. All volunteers begin and end their day at the same designated location for the written grant review session and afternoon overall review session where most of the sponsorship recognition would take place. The proceeds gained from sponsorships of this event will be allocated to funding of the nonprofits that are being evaluated.

The iEmpower Youth Program is a before/after school program in the Big Lake, Elk River, and Princeton school districts. This K-8 program is a 10-week curriculum teaching shy, vulnerable youth the skills in self-reliance, communication, and leadership skills. Currently, there are over 200 students enrolled in the program and is increasing in size. The program costs Sherburne County Area United Way approximately $114 per student to operate, but is offered at no charge to students through sponsorships and fundraising.

Spring Fundraiser

Details are still being determined, but it is sure to be an excellent event!
* There will be more sponsorship benefits as the event is closer to fruition

The True Colors Fashion Show is a fundraising event benefitting the iEmpower Youth Program. This fun event brings together business sponsors, community leaders, and other influential members of the community for an evening of a gourmet meal, delicious dessert auction, raffle, and, of course, a highly entertaining fashion show.
