Board of Directors

Sherburne County Area United Way (SCAUW) is led by a volunteer Board of Directors. The board is made up of diverse leaders from throughout the Sherburne County area that are committed to making SCAUW the best it can be. They meet monthly to further SCAUW’s mission and strategic work.

Seasonal/Event Committees

  • Community Investment

Community Investment Committee is tasked with recommending which agencies/nonprofits should be funded by SCAUW and proposes to the Board of Directors the funding amount.

Community Connect Committee plans and executes the one-day community event that benefits people in need in Sherburne County. Tasks include reaching out to vendors and sponsors, planning event logistics, set up/tear down, and ensuring the event runs smoothly for all guests in attendance.

iEmpower Youth Program Committee oversees the iEmpower Youth Program. They are a resource for program logistics, funding opportunities and budgeting. Their goal is to ensure that the youth are becoming tomorrow’s leaders!

Shiver Elk River Committee is tasked with the meticulous organization and implementation of this one-day event where community members jump into icy Lake Orono, raising money for local nonprofits. This large undertaking has many components that need tending to. The year 2021 will be the first year SCAUW will be in charge of the event and are looking for various talents in order to execute to the fullest potential. 

  • Women United! (Auxiliary)

Women United! brings together caring, dynamic and driven women to promote community leadership and impact lives in our communities. They do this through implementing direct programming including the iEmpower Youth Program, hosting fundraising events that raise funds for and awareness of SCAUW and participate in philanthropic projects that benefit the community. The committee is most widely known for their work with the True Colors Fashion Show.

Board Committees

  • Board Development

Board Development Committee is responsible for recruiting, proposing and mentoring new board members. They also provide training and resources for the Board of Directors.

  • Financial Advisory

Financial Advisory Committee oversees the financials of the organization and offers guidance when needed. They develop and propose the annual budget to the Board of Directors. They also review the financial audit and financial policies and procedures.

  • Resource Development

Provides direction, planning, and execution of all fundraising efforts including individual giving, corporate campaign contributions, and fundraising events

  • Community Impact 

Investigates and prioritizes community needs, ensures relevancy and ongoing development of programs, and oversees Community Investment Process


General Interest

  • Office Volunteer

If you like to volunteer in an office environment we may have an opportunity for you! We often have opportunities to make copies, organize, and file reports. 

  • Event Volunteer

We have opportunities for individuals to volunteer on the days leading up to events (hanging flyers, setting up, etc) and the day of our events (working the event, tearing down, etc). The tasks vary depending on the specific event.

  • Your Area of Expertise
